Beauties train as tourism ambassadors, eco-warriors
2019 LIMGAS NA PANGASINAN
LINGAYEN–
The biggest beauty search in the province, Limgas na Pangasinan is no longer a
mere a competition for beauty, personality, and wit among contestants but as an
avenue to prepare the ladies to become tourism ambassadors and eco–warriors by
the time they reach pageant night on April 30.
Provincial Population, Cooperative, and Livelihood Development Office chief
Ellsworth Gonzales said preliminary activities set for the 15 official Limgas
candidates include visits to tourist spots, pictorials and rehearsals, mall
tours, and participation in environmental protection projects and advocacies of
the provincial government.
Gonzales said the Limgas beauty search stresses the importance of
re-discovering their home province to
enhance their confidence in themselves as Pangasinenses.
“Indeed, our Limgas na Pangasinan journey is an amazing once in a lifetime
experience,” a Limgas candidate said right after taking part in the seeding of
bangus fingerlings at the Limahong Channel held early morning of March 30.
That day, the Limgas candidates were ferried to Burgos and Dasol towns for
their first outdoor pictorials in lieu of basking the beauty of western
Pangasinan which is famed for its long coastline with beautiful seascapes and
beaches.
In Burgos, the Limgas crown hopefuls made a stopover at the Pangasinan
Reformation Center, a development facility built and managed by the provincial
government in San Vicente, Burgos, before heading to Dasol town for a tour at a
salt farm.
Under the summer sun, the Limgas candidates experienced how it feels to harvest
rock salt or “barara” from the salt beds.
“It was a
good experience to see how salt is made. Salt-making is knowing how our
province Pangasinan got its name,” a Limgas candidate said.
Early
morning of March 31 the Limgas beauties toured the Colibra Island, a famous
tourism lure in the buzzling Dasol town.
More preliminary activities are set for the Limgas beauties prior to the
pre-pageant, featuring the parade of one-town one-product costumes and talent
showdown on April 23, 7PM at the Sison Auditorium; and the pageant and
coronation night on April 30 at the Capitol Plaza. (PIO/MGNO)
