BANGUSAN STREET PARTY

SOME 400 policemen will be deployed to secure the Bangusan Street Party on April 30 that will be held along the Jose de Venecia Expressway Extension in Dagupan City, which is expected to be attended anew by one million revelers.

P/Lt. Col. Jandale Sulit, Dagupan police chief, said the augmentation force will come from adjacent police stations and from the Police Provincial Office.

“We will establish command posts in every staging area,” Sulit said, adding that the force multipliers from the ranks of army reservists and civilian organizations will also help.

The Bangusan Street Party is the penultimate event in the 2019 Bangus Festival which will be marked by the simultaneous grilling of bangus and other food items to be partaken during the event.

It is held the night before the Pista ng Dagat on May 1 at the Tondaligan Beach and where an array of activities will be held to entertain the visitors.

In 2010, the Bangusan Street Party was adjudged by the Department of Tourism as the biggest street party in the Philippines.

Since the Bangusan Street Party will be very crowded, Sulit advised revelers not to bring valuables and pointed objects, including backpacks.

Persons found carrying knives and other pointed objects that can be classified as a deadly weapon will be charged with violation of the Comelec gun ban, Sulit said.

He clarified that drinking of liquor is permitted since it is still not the election period. (Leonardo Micua)
