THE RACE IS ON FOR 12 SEATS

URDANETA CITY—Pangasinenses enthusiastically  welcomed the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) regional political party to the province to officially introduce the senatorial candidacies of 13 wannabes on Valentine’s Day held at the Urdaneta Cultural and Sports Center here.

Led by presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, her HNP entourage arrived and held a campaign rally at the Urdaneta City Civic and Cultural Center on February 14.

The Hugpong senatorial team is made up of candidates of different political parties: Sonny Angara, Pia Cayetabo, Imee Marcos, Bong Go, Ronald de la Rosa, Zahid Magudadatu, Ramon Revilla Jr., Jinggoy Estrada, JV Ejercito, Cynthia Villar, Francis Tolentino, and Jiggy Manicad.

Cayetano, Go, De la Rosa, Angara, Marcos and Ejercito are also included in the ticket of the PDP Laban, the political party of President Duterte who are expected to campaign in Pangasinan this week.

They were welcomed by Urdaneta City Mayor Amadeo Perez IV along with Gov. Amado Espino III and Fifth District Congressman Amadeo Perez Jr.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte made a pitch for Hugpong’s senatorial candidates, describing briefly each’s qualifications and past performance as public servants.

Present among the Hugpong senatorial bets for the Pangasinan sortie were senators Cynthia Villar, Sonny Angara and JV Ejercito, former senators Pia Cayetano, Jinggoy Estrada, Jiggy Manicad and Bong Revilla.

The presidential daughter said they are going around to look for friends even as she thanked Pangasinenses for their help in making the presidential bid of her father in the 2016 elections.

She said her family has its debt of gratitude to Pangasinan for the election of her father as president. The province now has an almost two million registered voters for the May 13 polls.

Duterte thanked Urdaneta City officials led by Mayor Amadeo Gregorio Perez IV for the warm welcome extended to them.

She again appealed to Pangasinenses to support her father’s candidates “but you have to choose only 12 senatorial aspirants”. (Leonardo Micua /PhilStar Wire Service)
