TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY RELATIONS

LIKE and share your local police station’s Facebook account.

This was encouraged by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) after it directed each police station in the province to open and maintain a Facebook account to harness public support to its efforts at improving peace and order in towns and cities.

P/Sr. Inspector Ria Tacderan, PPPO information officer, acknowledged the use of social media to win community support in crime prevention through crime reporting.

She said the contact numbers of all city or municipal police stations are posted on their respective Facebook accounts.

“Advice lamang na kung saang lugar kayo nakatira, alamin ninyo yong mga emergency hotline numbers nang sa gayon kapag nagkaroon ng kaguluhan, agad ninyong mai-inform ang kapulisan para makapag-responde sila,” Tacderan told the ‘Pantongtongan Tayo’ (Pag-usapan Natin) radio program of PIA Pangasinan aired over DZMQ Radyo Pilipinas Dagupan on Tuesday. 

Tacderan urged residents to relay their reports to their stations as these happen so police response can yield positive results.

“Kung minsan, sinasabi nila laging huli ang pulis. Syempre dahil ‘yan sa huling dumating ang report,” she said. 

Tacderan said police stations are directed to utilize social media to help establish a good relationship between their police and the communities by posting accomplishments of the stations and other information through the “Post Ko, Work Ko, Like Mo, Share Mo” on Facebook. 

She said PPPO challenges police stations to post one positive comment or development every day whether by the police or the community to help improve police-community relations as partners. 

“Dahil sa mga ina-upload na ginagawang kabayanihan ng mga kapulisan ay mas napapalapit ang loob ng mga mamamayan.,”  she said. (With PIA Pangilinan report)
