MANGALDAN–Another student in this town who became a victim of bullying died Thursday after three of his schoolmates allegedly beat him up on Jan. 15 inside the Mangaldan National High School (MNHS) in Barangay Poblacion here.

MNHS School Principal Leo Blaquir said Kenneth Langit, 19, Grade 11, died Thursday afternoon at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.

Langit was reportedly mauled by suspect George Calimlim, 19, and his Grade 12 classmates, Jayson Soriano, 22, and Jay-Ar Biagtan, 21 near the school canteen.

The police have arrested Calimlim, Soriano and Biagtan.

Blaquir said it was an isolated incident in their school and both the victim and the suspects had no prior record of a misdemeanor in the school.

“They were both attentive and participative in their respective classes,” he said.

Blaquir said the school, which has the biggest student population in Pangasinan, has three roving security guards in every shift but they failed to see the incident.

The incident happened during the time when students were moving to transfer to other classrooms for their next subjects, he said.

Based on Balquir’s initial investigation, a rivalry involving a love interest of Langit and Calimlim was the motive for the incident.

On January 7, an 11-year-old student from Barangay Salay also in this town died after he was reportedly bullied and beaten up by his three playmates aged 9, 10 and 11 respectively.

The victim was laid to his final resting place on Jan. 15 while his family is waiting for the release of the result of the autopsy made on Jan. 14 for possible court action. (PhilStar Wire Service)
