Dagupan establishes own pharmacy
THE Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP)
passed last week an ordinance seeking the establishment of the first ever Dagupan
City Health Office Pharmacy.
Councilor Dennis Canto, chairman on health of the SP, said in order to
accomplish it, must comply with the provision of Republic Act 9711,
otherwise known as Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, mandating all
health facilities to obtain a license to operate a pharmacy/drug store.
It is also in compliance with Administrative Order No. 2014-0034 of the
Department of Health whose main objective is to ensure the health and welfare
of the public by regulating the activities and operations of establishments
dispensing medicines and requiring them to secure a license to operate (LTO).
Canto said the Dagupan City Health Office has started processing its
application for a license to operate a pharmacy with the FDA, a
requirement for its possible inclusion as one of the “Botika ng
Bayan” in Region1.
The “Botika ng Bayan” is a program of the DOH to enable residents to have
easy access to quality and affordable medicines needed by the growing number of
CHO clientele, Canto said. (Leoanrdo Micua)
