No “dugyot” allowed in Binalonan
THE local government of Binalonan will strictly implement the national laws on anti-littering, vagrancy, sanitation and pollution with its own anti-“dugyot” ordinance”, to maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the town.
And for the stricter campaign, the local government is crafting an ordinance, the Anti-Dugyot Ordinance that will prescribe penalties.
Mayor Ramon Guico III said the ordinance will put more teeth in the town’s anti-plastics littering campaign to eliminate or encourage minimal use of plastics by households and visitors.
“Kung walang plastics (wrappers, straws, etc.), walang kalat,” he said.
“We have no problem with the locals, since they know how strict the government is about littering of plastics in the town. The problem really lies with transients and visitors who after taking food out from fastfood outlets, they are seen disposing their plastic wrappers and utensils on any street corner mindlessly,” Guico said.
He said this is the reason why the local government has installed fifty CCTVs around the town centers to identify the culprits dumping their plastic wastes in the town center and highways in Binalonan.
The local government is implementing the waste segregation and the waste management rules by colleting only residuals and expect residents to bury their biodegradable wastes in their premises.
The anti-dugyot ordinance will also monitor the sanitary conditions of eateries and restaurants in Binalonan.
The ordinance will also seek to regulate the installation of vendor stalls encroaching on highway, tarpaulin, posters and streamers around the town.
Drunks loitering the streets or operating videoke in the wee hours will not be allowed.
The municipal government set up a hotline (632-11-11) to help enforce the ordinance. (Nora Dominguez)
