Korean yacht causes brownout in Bolinao
POWER CABLE HIT
ANDA — A Korean yacht that strayed into the territorial waters of Barangay Awag, Anda at around 11:00 p.m. on November 14 and hit the floating electric cable connected to Barangay Siapar and Santiago Island in Bolinao.
The incident caused power outage in the two areas for hours..
Identified by the Anda Police Station based on their passports were Taegeun Yoon, 56, boat captain; Seung Ki Ro, 62, a, retired employee, and Kwang Hoon Hur, 61, all Korean nationals.
Initial investigation showed the yacht named “Budsama” sailed from Taiwan and was enroute to Subic in Zambales when the accident happened.
The captain of the vessel admitted he mistakenly navigated the yacht towards the territorial sea water of Awag, Anda.
All passengers of the yacht were unhurt.
The extent and cost of damage to the snapped floating electric cable was not quickly established. (Leonardo Micua)
