Du30 endorses Orbos for First District
PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte personally endorsed the candidacy of former Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) OIC Chairman Thomas Orbos, also former Department of Transportation Undersecretary.
“Kaya mo yan, ha! Huwag kang titigil. Huwag kang kabahan. Ako ang bahala. Basta ituloy mo ang laban,” President Duterte told Orbos when they met in Malacanang recently.
The 53-year old Orbos was earlier joined by four Pangasinan governors when he filed his certificate of candidacy. They were incumbent Gov. Amado “Pogi” Espino III, former Governors Rafael M. Colet, Oscar Orbos and Amado T. Espino Jr., now congressman of the Fifth District of Pangasinan.
Thomas or Tim is the younger brother of former Executive Secretary and DOTC Secretary Oscar Orbos who also served as governor and First District Representative.
He also served under two Philippine presidents: first as Undersecretary in the Office of the President under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and as Assistant Secretary in the Office of the President and MMDA Assistant General Manager under President Benigno Aquino III.
Orbos said in running for Congress, he wants to continue his service in government in another capacity, this time as the voice of the people in the First District. (Leonardo Micua)
