PNPA recruits new cadets for Class 2023

HUNDREDS of young men and women are taking the qualifying entrance exam today, October 28, for a chance to be accepted at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), and become a police officer after four years.

P/Sr Superintendent Wilson Lopez, Pangasainan Police Provincial Director who belongs to PNPA Class of 1993, told the KBP Forum on Thursday that those who pass theĀ  exam and cadet screening will join PNPA Class of 2023.

He said as cadets, they become government scholars for four years and will have the rank of senior inspectors after graduation in the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Cadets will have a monthly salary of P50,000 a month until they graduate.

Those taking the exams today have initially passed the initial qualifications: natural born Filipino citizens, 18-22 years old, single with no parental obligation, at least a high school graduate upon admission and whose weight., physically and mentally fit to undergo the training and of good moral character, no pending complaint against him/her and must not have been dismissed from any private or government positions for cause.

Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, chief of the Police Community Relations of the Pangasinan Police Office, added a PNPA cadet must also meet the minimum height requirement of at least five feet and four inches for males and five feet and two inches for females. In the case of Members of Indigenous People who cannot meet the height requirement may still be admitted subject to confirmation of status.

The entrance examinations cover subjects in English, Pilipino, Science, General Information and Current Events.
