STALLHOLDERS at the Malimgas Public Market in Dagupan City are seeking a five-day rent ‘holiday’ after they failed to operate for days as a result of a series of floods that hit the city.

This was gleaned in a letter to Mayor Belen Fernandez, copy furnished Councilor Dennis Canto, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on market; City Treasurer Romelita Alcantara and Market Superintendent Aguedo Sta. Maria sent  by  MADAVFE Malimgas Dagupan Vendors Federation) dated August 31, 2018.

Specifically, it asked for  “5-day holiday particularly from August 15 to August 17.”

They said that during those days. they (market vendors) found it hard to pay their rent obligations because they were not able to sell as the markets “were practically inaccessible”.

The letter was signed by members of the MADAVFE board of directors Eduardo Cervantes, meat section; Elizabeth Fabroa, fish section; Joel de la Cruz, vegetable section; Carol Castro, dry goods section; Naty Ballesteros, footwear section; Paula Magno, fruit section; Jaime Gutay, New Galvan Market; Juliet Viray, dress chicken section; Ariel Maniling, bagoong section; Estella Torio, footwear section; Elvira Aguado, canteen section; Anita Maynigo, parlor section; Janine Mara Hurtado, glassware section; and Gina Siapno, rice
section.” (Leonardo Micua)
