Cayetano lauds R1MC’s state of the art facilities
TAGUIG Rep. Pia Cayetano lauded the Region I Medical Center for its many state-of-the art health facilities found in many modern hospitals in the world.
Cayetano, who is running for senator in next year’s election, was among the guests of honor and speaker during R1MC’s new five-storey Training and Eye Center Building.
The other guests of honor were Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, former Speaker Jose de Venecia, lawyer Raul Lambino, administrator of the Cagayan Special Economic Zone Authority and Mayor Belen Fernandez of Dagupan City.
Cayetano, one-time chair of the Senate committee on health, said when she came to R1MC she was surprised at the modern health facilities it is now using, making it at par if not ahead with some of the modern private hospitals in Manila.
She noted from the briefing of R1MC chief Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia that the medical center is now doing kidney transplant and will soon open its cancer center located in Bonuan Binloc.
She said the new developments interest her very much because her father, the late Senator Rene Cayetano died from liver cancer, and believes the center will greatly benefit Pangasinenses.
Meanwhile, Secretary Duque called on the staff of RIMC to level up their services not only through bedside care of “malasakit” to their patients but also through “patient endearment”.
He said while R1MC has acquired a new building and medical facilities, it is also important that the doctors and nurses level up their services geared for the total satisfaction of patients. (Leonardo Micua)
