AS of 5:00 p.m. on October 17, 25 candidates who were able to beat the deadline in filing their respective Certificates of Candidacy (CoCs) before the City Elections Office at the city hall.

One Socorro Barrozo Aquino, a housewife, filed her CoC for mayor as independent candidate on the last day of filing on Oct. 17. She becomes the third candidate for mayor of Dagupan.

The two other candidates for mayor are incumbent Mayor Belen T. Fernandez of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats; and Vice Mayor Marc Brian Lim of the Nacionalista Party.

The candidates for vice mayor are Dean Bryan Kua of Lakas-CMD and former Sangguniang Kabataan chairman Carlos Alipio Serafin Fernandez of NP.

The Lakas-CMD candidates for councilors are reelectionist Luis Samson Jr., Jose Netu Tamayo, Dennis Canto, Marvin Fabia and Guillermo Vallejos; former Councilors Michael Fernandez and Karlos Liberato Reyna IV; and Caranglaan Barangay chairman Teresa Coquia.

The candidates for councilors of the NP are Councilor Nicanor Aquino, former Councilor Librada Reyna-Macalanda, Robert Erfe-Mejia, Cisco Jay Flores, Ricardo Mejia, Teddy Villamil Jr, Maria Lourdez Fernandez and Maximo Alexis Tan.

The independent candidates for councilors are Roberto Salayug, Jonathan Calimlim and Alfredo Dawana. (Leonardo Micua).
