THE Pangasinan Smiles Photo Exhibit that honors successful Pangasinenses who have made a mark in Philippine society will open on September 10 at the House of Representatives’ South Wing Lobby.

The exhibit will run until September13.

The exhibit displays the portraits of showbiz legend Gloria Romero; versatile movie and television actress, Jasmine Curtis-Smith; The Voice Philippines’ first champion, Mitoy Yonting; five-time speaker of the House of Representatives, Speaker Jose De Venecia; former congresswoman, Gina De Venecia; national artist nominee, Joe Datuin; national athletes, Jayson Ramil Macaalay and John Enrico Vasques; three-time number 1 Councilor of Dagupan City, Maybelyn Fernandez; fashion designer Jaz Cerezo; Aramal – Tocok Cooperative; Alliance of United Transport (AUTOPRO); Balon Dagupan Children’s Choir; Samahan ng Maliliit na Mangingisda sa Dagupan; and the Pangasinan Smiles essay-writing contest winners.

The Pangasinan Smiles Photo Exhibit was one of the highlights of the Bangus Festival in Dagupan City in April and during the inauguration of the Museo De Mangaldan in June, both this year.

“They are local treasures who came from humble beginnings yet they overcame many odds to be where they are now. These are the stories of every Filipino,” said Rep. Christopher De Venecia, the man behind this project.

De Venecia conceptualized the Pangasinan Smiles Photo Exhibit not only to recognize the individuals who bring pride to their home province, but also to inspire his fellow kabaleyan to follow in their footsteps.

“With the warm reception it received in Pangasinan, I was encouraged to bring the Pangasinan Smiles Photo Exhibit to the House of Representatives,” he said. (With PhilStar wire service report)
