INTER- LGU UNITY GAMES BEST-OF-3 FINALS

LINGAYEN —Barrage of three-pointers and two-point shots plus athletic stunts on court delighted the spectators during the finals in the 2nd season of the Pangasinan Inter-LGU Unity Games featuring the San Carlos City and Bugallon contingents in their first face-off on August 31 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) gymnasium.

No-less than Mayor Jumel Anthony I. Espino of Bugallon rallied his team until the final second of the game. However, luck favored San Carlos City contingent which survived the unrelenting Bugallon cagers with a 3-point edge, 97-94.

 

STA. BARBARA VS ALAMINOS CITY

The two teams started on an equal footing and ended the first quarter with a deadlock 22-22. The second quarter, on the other hand, favored San Carlos City after scoring a four-point advantage against Bugallon, 45-41. In the end of the third quarter, Bugallon took the lead by six points, 71-65.

In the championship game under division II between teams Urbiztondo led by Mayor Raul Martin Sison and Sta. Maria, the latter contingent conceded with four minutes 26 seconds time left in the last quarter with Urbiztondo leading by six points, 71-65.

 

AGUILAR VS BURGOS

In the battle for third place which is a knocked down game, Alaminos City defeated Bayambang (under Division 1), 88-74, while Basista bagged the third place for Division II after trouncing Aguilar in a lopsided match, 88-46.

For volleyball participated in by women officials and empoyees, volleyball teams from Sta. Barbara and Aguilar towns made a lethal blow to rival Alaminos City and Burgos at the opening of the best-of-three volleyball finals, also held at the NRSCC gymnasium.

 

ALAMINOS VS BUGALLON

Sta. Barbara team closed its first face-off with Alaminos City, last year’s volleyball tournament division 1 winner, in a convincing three straight sets (25-22, 24-14, 25-21).

Aguilar, on the other hand, showed dominance in the volleyball tournament division II, besting Burgos, last year’s champion, in four sets (28-26, 25-20, 11-25, 15-25).

 

URBIZTONDO VS STA. MARIA

Meanwhile, in the knockout games for third place, Bayambang trounced Rosales in division 1, while Sison defeated Infanta to remain as the league’s third top team in division II

The second games for the basketball and volleyball finals will be on September 6 at the NRSCC gym, as follows:

Volleyball             10AM                     Aguilar vs Burgos (Division II)

11AM                      Alaminos City vs Sta. Barbara (Division II)

Basketball            1PM                        Sta. Maria vs Urbiztondo (Division II)

2:30PM                 Bugallon vs San Carlos City (Division I)

Based on the schedule prepared by the Pangasinan Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) headed by Sports Director Modesto M. Operania, a third game will be held on September 7, if necessary. (Ruby R. Bernardino and Mark Gerry N. Oblanca)
