INTENSIFIED CAMPAIGN IN JULY

THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) conducted the most number of anti-illegal drugs (AID) operations among all four police provincial offices in Region 1 from July 1 to 31 this year, the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) reported.

P/Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula, PRO 1 regional director, reported that the PPPO chalked up a total of 189 AIDs in July, 945% higher compared to only 20 AIDs conducted in June.

At the same time, the La Union Provincial Police Office (LUPPO) has improved its performance in July by 471% by conducting 80 successful AID operations compared to only 17 successful operations in June.

The Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office (INPPO) and Ilocos Sur Provincial Police Office (ISPPO) also increased their anti-illegal drug operations by 557% and 720%, respectively.

In all, a total of 343 AIDS that were conducted in the region last month that reflected a 60 % increase from the month of June.

Sapitula lauded his personnel for the improved anti-illegal drug operations in their respective areas. He said 13 chiefs of police from Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and La Union were relieved last week due to poor performance in the peace and order campaign, which includes the war on drugs.

“We are trying to improve our efficiency in all fields of the police service. While we do this, we also improve the facilities and everything that our personnel would need to meet all that is expected from them,” Sapitula said.

“We do not only relieve those who fall short of our expectations, but we also give justice to the accomplishments of those who earnestly do their duties and responsibilities by giving them rewards and medals,” he added.

The evaluation of chiefs of police in Pangasinan has been extended for another week in view of the widespread flood that affected Pangasinan Sapitula said. (Leonardo Micua)
