Rescue operations launched in 17 towns, 3 cities

LINGAYEN – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) launched rescue operations in 17 towns and 3 cities last week when after continuous rains brought about by the southwest monsoon severely flooded and isolated the communities.

Gov. Amado Espino III, PDRRMC chairman, directed more resources and logistics to Bani, Mangatarem, Calasiao, Sta. Barbara, Labrador, Mabini, Lingayen, Bugallon, Malasiqui, Agno, Natividad, Malasiqui, Agno, Natividad, Dasol, Bayambang, Bautista, Alaminos City, Urdaneta City and Dagupan City to assist in the evacuation of thousands of families from their homes.

PDRRMC initially deployed two quick response teams in coordination with some line agencies including the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct rescue operations in Mangatarem and Calasiao.

Ten barangays with 13 families in Mangatarem where flood level were from 2ft. to 5ft. while 89 families from 19 barangays of Calasiao had to be rescued with flood level ranged from 2ft. to 7ft.

Rescue boats were also deployed to Dagupan City to help in rescue efforts. (PIO/SMDG)
