SAN FABIAN—If the town is known for its “tuyo” and “tupig”, the town’s Center Beach in Barangay Nibaliw is fast becoming the most popular beach resort in Pangasinan.

The town’s tourism officer, Jonathan Gacosta, affirmed this, citing the increasing number of visitors to the area.

To ensure the continued popularity of the beach, the San Fabian government, he said, has taken steps to keep the beach a safe destination for families.

He said there have been a few drowning incidents in the past and the government wants to make sure that such accidents no longer happen because it considers tourism as one of its major thriving industries.

The tourism office makes sure that security on the beach is monitored 24/7 with the presence of the beach’s lifeguards.

According to Gacosta, unlike in other resort areas, cleanliness was never an issue with the resort owners because they are “very cooperative” in making the beach clean and safe.

The town government’s employees, schools, and police officers also get involved in beach clean-up activities.

Other destinations in San Fabian, he said, are the PTA Resort in Bolasi, the Roheim Farm, and seminary located on top of the mountain in Palapad for bikers and hikers. (CdG/Queenie Garcia)
