Capitol set to resume Kalusugan Caravan
THE provincial government is set to resume its Kalusugan Caravan in June to deliver health and other services to residents of remote barangays that could not be served regularly by rural health units.
This was disclosed by Rachel Zarate and Kempee Cruz, both nurses of the Provincial Health Office, who said preparations are underway including manpower resources, logistics, and medicines that will be needed.
Aside from conducting medical and dental missions, the caravan conducts information, education, and communication activities on how to prevent dengue, gastro-intestinal diseases and common illnesses like flu, colds, pneumonia, among others.
Lectures for pregnant mothers are also conducted.
“When we go to the barangays, we bring with us mosquito nets treated with insecticide which we distribute to schools so that pupils and students are safe from mosquitoes that cause dengue in their classrooms,” Cruz said.
Cruz said the caravan has reached such areas as Pita, Infanta, which are accessible after two hours of travel along muddy roads in sloping mountains areas.
Zarate said the resumption of Kalusugan Caravan was timed with the holding of the Brigada Eskwela in all schools and the opening of classes on June 4. (Leonardo Micua)
