Four drown, 1 missing separately last week

LINGAYEN—Four persons drowned in separate incidents last week.

According to the Pangasinan police, Salvador de Asis, 52, drowned in the Angalacan River in Mangaldan on April 8. His body was recovered only the following day.

The police said the victim left home at 1:00 a.m. with his wife to report for work in the town proper. He failed to return home.

At 7:50 a.m. on April 9, the police received a call from a concerned citizen informing that a cadaver of a male person was found floating along the Angalacan River in Barangay Embarcadero.  The body was identified as that of Salvador’s.

In another incident, Darren Nogoy, 29, of Barangay Dolores Capaz, Tarlac, was reported missing while swimming at the Cabaoangan Beach in Barangay Ilio-Ilio, Burgos at 8:00 a.m. on April 9.

A search and rescue operation by personnel of the Philippine Coastguard, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Bantay Dagat of Burgos LGU found the body of the victim.

Nogoy was was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve swimsuit with blue lining and black short pants.

A drowning incident was also reported at the San Fabian beach in Barangay Nibaliw Vidal at about 11:00 a.m., on April 8.

The victim, Rudy Esponja, 19, a resident of Paniqui, Tarlac. was swimming with friends when he was carried away by a strong current and drowned.

The victim was rescued and rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan but was declared dead on arrival.

In Dasol, William Dait, 34, a construction worker from Fairview, Quezon City, drowned when he and co-workers went swimming at around 8:20 a.m. on April 8 at the Tambobong Beach. He got separated from his group and has not been seen since.

A search and rescue operation by the Maritime CAFGU later found Dait’s body some 100 meters away from the shoreline. (Leonardo Micua)
