PALARONG PAMBANSA

A TOTAL of 59 Balon Dagupan athletes, mainly medalists in the 2017 sportsfest, will be seeing action in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, on April 15-21 as members of the Regional Athletic Association.

They will be pitted against the best from 17 other regions in the country.

Dagupan City Sports Commissioner Finnela T. Sim said nine coaches will be joining the Balon Dagupan athletes who will be competing in 15 events, namely: arnis, athletics, archery, badminton, basketball, 3-on-3, chess, gymnastics, aero gymnastics, pencak silat, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wushu and swimming.

Dagupan is the reigning Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) champion with swimming and archery as the city’s core strengths.

In the 2017 Palaro held in the province of Antique, four of the seven gold medals of R1AA were won by Dagupan athletes in swimming, archery and basketball 3-on-3.  (CIO/JCB)
