Kagawad, five others arrested in buy-bust operations

CALASIAO – The war on drugs in Pangasinan netted a village councilman of Barangay Mancup, Calasiao in a drug buy-bust operation inside a beer garden in Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao Monday night, February 26.
The town police and and elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Jonathan Velasco, alias “Jong”, a councilman of Mancup and tagged as a newly identified drug personality, soon as he received the P500 marked money in exchange for one plastic sachet containing shabu.
Another sachet of suspected shabu and Php 20 bill were found in his pocket.
Meanwhile, five more drug personalities were arrested in similar buy-bust operations conducted by the police and PDEA in other towns of Pangasinan.
They were identified by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office as Reyan Caburnay, 39, of Barangay Sta. Rosa, Binmaley; Ogee Moises of Barangay Gueset, San Manuel; Marion Escobar, 21, of Barangay Toketec, Tayug; Arsenio Orpilla and Analyn Osorio, both of Poblacion East Asingan; and Reynan Muerong of Piaz, Villasis.
Caburnay, a drug watch list personality of Binmaley, was caught in the act of transacting business with the station’s undercover policeman.
Moises was arrested by the police following a long motorcycle chase all the way from the Benigno Aldana National High School in Barangay Cablong, Pozorrubio to Barangay Bantog, Asingan after a buy-bust operation.
Also arrested in Ariston West, Asingan were Orpilla, a newly identified drug personality under Oplan “Target Hook” 2008, and one Analyn Osorio, who surrendered last year.
Escobar is a newly identified drug suspect in Tayug, while Muerong is a drug personality in Villasis.
All suspects were charged for violation of Sections 5, 11 and 15 of Article II of Republic Act 9165.
The police stations in the towns earlier declared as drug-free in December where the drug personalities where arrested were given a month to undertake the necessary interdiction or else their towns will be reverted back to the status of drug-affected. (Leonardo Micua)
