LINGAYEN – The establishments in Lingayen found violating provisions of the fire safety were warned by the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) Provincial and Lingayen office of stiff penalties if they do not correct their deficiencies.

F/Inspector Richard Santillan, Lingayen fire marshal and information officer of the BFP Provincial office, said the inspection conducted last week found most of the establishments, including a hotel, were found without a water sprinkler system, fire detection system, fire alarm and absence of or lacked exit points.

Santillan said the establishments were given a prescribed period to install the required equipment and facilities with a warning of stiff penalties provided by law.

The inspection, he said, is part of the year round activity of the BFP to ensure that all establishments are observing the safety rules stated in the Republic Act 9514 to prevent fire.

The management of the hotel promised to immediately correct its deficiencies.

The inspection of the malls and schools in Lingayen revealed the same violations, i.e., lack of water sprinkler and alarm system and lack of exit points.

BFP Lingayen have already recorded 10 incidents of grass fire since January to the present.

In case of fire or emergency, the public can reach BFP Lingayen thru 075-542-7080 or 0915-934-8098. (Nora Dominguez)
