P7.9-M FOR MAYOMBO LOT

THE Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution authorizing Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to negotiate for the sale of a 529 sq. meter property in Barangay Mayombo so the city can raise the fund needed to construct a three-storey school building to house nine classrooms.

The resolution proposed by Councilor Nicanor Aquino, chairman of the committee on land utilization, gave the nod for the sale of the property which was determined to have no right of way, being an interior lot and has no value at all to the city.

Aquino attested that the city government is the registered owner and possessor of the land to be sold and that it would be more beneficial to the city to sell the property since the lot has already an existing private structure.

City Assessor Roland Suni said based on the appraised value of the property, it would fetch a P15,000 per sq. meter price or P7.9 million. He confirmed that the land is covered by a transfer certificate of title in the name of the city found in the Land Registry of Deeds.

Engr. Josephine Corpuz, city planning and development officer, revealed if the land is leased to its present occupant, it will take over 48 years to accumulate P7.9 million.

She said Mayor Fernandez envisions the three-storey school building to be built at the Malued Elementary School.

The lot is located just at the back of Super 8 mall and is within the city’s central business district.

The city council will ratify the contract of sale as soon as it is signed. (Leonardo Micua)
