Resumption of anti-rabies vaccination in city ordered
DAGUPAN City Mayor Belen Fernandez has ordered City Veterinarian Dr. Michael Maramba to resume the vaccination of dogs in all the 31 barangays of the city on February 1 to ensure that residents, particularly children are protected from rabies.
Her directive was in consonance with her Executive Order No. 55 making 2018 a Family Year in the city and will focus its programs and projects in the city on the welfare and protection of families.
The mayor also directed all the barangay chairmen to help the veterinary office implement the renewed anti-rabies vaccination drive by campaigning among their constituents to voluntarily submit their pet dogs for vaccination.
Maramba said the anti-rabies vaccination in the city is set to start in February to welcome the Chinese New Year.
In addition to the vaccination program, residents will be taught the proper care and handling of pet dogs, Maramba said.
Meanwhile, the mayor ordered the city’s Task Force 21 to intensify the campaign against astray dogs to make the streets of Dagupan safer for children, particularly schoolchildren. (Leonardo Micua)
