FILINVEST, one of the country’s top residential condominium builders, plans to construct 13 condominium buildings in Dagupan City to meet the demands of a growing population of a progressive city.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez told the KBP Forum last Thursday that officials of Filinvest were in Dagupan City last week and conveyed the plan of their company to construct residential condominium buildings in the city.

She said officials of the company outlined their plan to build the project in a meeting with the Dagupan City Investment and Development Board (DCIDB) that she heads.

The DCIDB meets with prospective investors to determined how it can help facilitate the implementation of their plans including processing of permits.

Fernandez said Fiinvest is eyeing an area along the national highway in Barangay Lucao, Dagupan City near the Dagupan-Binmaley boundary as the location of its condominium projects.

The mayor said the city welcomes Filinvest and looks forward to the project since it will create jobs and help stimulate business activities in the city.

Meanwhile, Sta. Lucia Realty, the first outside investor to come to Dagupan, in 2013,  is already developing a high-end subdivision in Barangay Bolosan, the mayor said.

At the same time, The City Mall of the Manila-based Double Dragon Corporation, is all set to open in Mayombo District here in a few weeks.

Another Mall, the SM Center Dagupan, is now being constructed along M.H. del Pilar Street on Herrero-Perez while SaveMore is all set to begin construction of its super store at its own lot on A.B. Fernandez Avenue in the city’s central business district.

The slated opening of these the big malls, the mayor said, necessitates the relocation of existing terminals along major thoroughfares to help ease traffic flow.

She said a private company is now building a grand terminal on De Venecia Expressway Extension that will accommodate all passenger buses, mini-buses, utility express vans and jeepneys plying Dagupan to other towns.

Soon as the grand terminal is in place, she said, all public utility vehicles going into the city will be prohibited from entering any street in the busy central business district.

The city council earlier gave bus companies up to end of last year to relocate their terminals whose ingress and egress are located 200 meters away from street intersections but it was suspended anew to wait for the completion of the grand terminal. (Leonardo Micua)
