APAFI conducts 6th medical-dental mission
LINGAYEN – The Association of Pangasinense in America Foundation Inc. (APAFI) recently conducted a five-day medical-dental mission from January 15 to 19 in five communities.
Nida Cortez, delegation head, said her group, composed of 22 members, has been doing the mission every year in the remotest barangays in Pangasinan since 2013.
“It is our love for Pangasinan that makes us come back yearly,” Cortez said as she noted that it was during the term of former governor and now 5th District Eepresentative Amado T. Espino, Jr. that the mission was conceived.
She said the younger Espino, Gov. Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III, the provincial government continues to provide full support to APAFI.
This year’s beneficiaries were in Brgy. Paldit in Sison town, Poblacion in Pozorrubio, Calmay in Dagupan City, Lilimasan in San Carlos City and San Miguel in Bani.
The APAFI is a group of Pangasinenses based in New York City and New Jersey, USA, who conducts outreach program to Pangasinan every year via health services and donations of various sorts: relief goods, school supplies and day care stuffs like toothbrushes, towels, slippers and vitamins for children.
Meanwhile, PHO chief Anna Maria Teresa S. De Guzman said another group of Pangasinense—Valdez Charitable Foundation—is set to hold its outreach program on February in chosen areas to be announced on a later date. (RRB, PIO)
