Dumol in a briefing said he hopes to finish the remaining segment of the TPLEX from Pozorrubio to Rosario in La Union early 2019 provided that the acquisition of the right of way is completed by early next year.

Also present were Mayors Ernesto Go of Pozorrubio, Silverio Alarcio of Laoac, and Danny Uy of Sison town and other officials of various line agencies and private contractors.

Meanwhile, Villar said that the opening of the segment will further improve travel time to the north adding that the project is part of the President Duterte’s ‘Luzon Spine Expressway Network’ program.

Villar said that South of Luzon will be connected to the North via the spine expressway network, “so you could imagine convenient travel going from the South to the North via a high speed expressway network.”

He said travel time from north to south usually takes 18 hours but once the program is completed, travel time will be reduced to at least 9 hours. “Kaya nating gawin ‘yan under the term of the President,” he said.

For his part, Gov. Espino said the TPLEX greatly helps in improving the economy and tourism in the province as he noted the influx of people visiting tourist destinations in the province. (Cesar Ramirez)
