LINGAYEN –P/Chief Supt. Romulo E. Sapitula, newly designated Regional Director of the Ilocos region, expressed “deep concern” over the reported number of murder cases by the Pangasinan police in 2017during his first command visit to the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office on Dec. 16.

Noting the 185 murder cases recorded during the briefing conducted by P/Superintendent Dominic Poblete, PPPO operations officer, Sapitula stressed it is a cause for concern even if it represents only one percent of total crime volume in the province.

Upon arrival at the PPPO, he addressed PPPO’s rank and file members and encouraged them to improve on their services to the province.

He was welcomed by P/Sr. Superintendent Ronald Lee, PPPO director.

Sapitula, until recently director of the Eastern Police District, took over from P/Chief Superintendent Charlo Collado as Police Regional Office 1 director.

“We should work harder so that we can enhance our service to the people, he said and appealed for their support.

He added that he intends to launch some projects in the province soon.

Sapitula also took note of the high incidence of vehicular accidents in the province and called on the police to work closely with local government units to address it. (Leonardo Micua)
