Aside from being the region’s champion, MES also won two special citations- the Nestle Water Leadership Award and the Meralco Energy Leadership Award.

The Nestle Water Leadership Award recognizes and promotes solutions, practices and initiatives of schools on water while the Meralco Energy Leadership Award recognizes schools that promote practices and initiatives in electrical safety, energy efficiency and conservation.

The award was presented to the school by Environmental Management Bureau – Region 1 Regional Director Maria Victoria V. Abrera during the regional awarding ceremony at Ariana Hotel, Bauang, La Union on December 13.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez rushed to Bauang, La Union just to be with the teaching force of Malued Elementary School during the conferment ceremony.

“This is another award that will continue to inspire us. We just came from the awarding program for the child-friendly municipalities and cities where Dagupan was proclaimed a finalist in the national search for sustainable and eco-friendly school,” the mayor said.

“This only shows the importance of the role that the children play as part of the community. Malued Elementary School will serve as a model for all of the schools in our city,” Fernandez added.
