P’sinan bags 5 championships in reg’l NSM contests

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The province of Pangasinan bagged five championships out of the 11 contest categories of the National Statistics Month (NSM) in the regional level.

NSM contests with secondary and tertiary categories include: oration, essay writing, poster and slogan making, statistics quiz, and jingle making and singing. Eleventh category competed is the essay writing (government employee category).

Posting a back-to-back win in oratorical contest (secondary) was Jhazmyn Fallorina of Bautista National High School. She bested three other contenders during the regional finals held at St. Louis College in San Fernando City, La Union on October 19.

Duplicating the victory of Pangasinan delegation in oratorical contest was Mark Jerome Natino of Colegio San Jose de Alaminos who bested his competitors in the tertiary category.

John Melvin Edejer of Kingfisher School of Business and Finance – Dagupan City topped the essay writing (secondary) while Evelyn Mendoza of Department of Education – San Carlos City Division was adjudged best in essay writing (employee).

For two years in-a-row, Calasiao Comprehensive National High School entry won the secondary level NSM jingle making and singing contest regional level. The regional level contest was held during the NSM celebration regional opening ceremony on October 5 in La Union.

Landing in the podium as first runners-up were: Kobe Perez of San Jacinto National High School (poster and slogan making contest – secondary), Joe Alanzon Castillo of Panpacific University North Philippines – Tayug (poster and slogan making contest – tertiary), and the statistics quiz team of Dagupan City National High School.

Placing as second runners-up were the statistics quiz team of Kingfisher School of Business and Finance – Dagupan City, and the jingle making and singing entry of PASS College of Alaminos City.

East Central Integrated School – Dagupan City student Alxiah Kyla Cruz ranked fourth in essay writing (secondary).

The regional closing ceremony of the 28th NSM celebration is set on October 26 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in La Union, where the over-all best NSM Province Implementer will be named.
