Urbiztondo police nab 26 for illegal gambling, 2 for murder case
TWENTY-six persons in Urbiztondo town were arrested for illegal gambling in the successive and simultaneous service of warrants of arrest by the Urbiztondo Police town.
P/ Sr. Inspector Joshua Maximo, Urbiztondo police chief, said Branch 57 of Regional Trial Court of San Carlos City issued the warrants of arrest against 57 persons but only 26 were arrested in the simultaneous service of the warrants.
Maximo identified the arrested suspects as: Teofilo Layoso, Abelardo Casupang, Lilia Doria, Robert Calugay, Gener Carigao, Nicanor Germono, Ronald Palisoc, Enrique Datuin, Mauro Rosario, Pedro Tapiador, Isidra Tabuga, Imelda Solomon, Angel Frias, Elpidio Cardinoza, Eulalia Melchor, Marlon Caguioa, David Junio, Don Nolito, Antonio Velasquez, Dominador Jazmin, Jay ar Layoso, Teofilo Dulay, Roger Abalos, Lionel Sarmiento, Genaro Custodio and Joel Delos Santos.
The police chief said the arrested suspects on Sep.4 were the same persons who were arrested by the NBI and Urbiztondo police last May who operated the off-fronton jai-alai betting stations, among them were the manager, maintainer, cashier, collectors, supervisors, cabos and bettors.
They were were all charged for violation of R.A. 9287 or anti-gambling law that defined illegal numbers games (mainly jueteng and masiao) and those who may be held liable, i.e., bettor, staff or operator, collector or cabo, controller, coordinator, supervisor, maintainer, manager, operator, protector or coddler) and can be meted with eight to 20 years imprisonment and P24,000.00 bail.
On the same day, Urbiztondo Police also nabbed the town’s most wanted persons in Barangay Dalanguiring.
Maximo identified the arrested suspects as Alex Pidlaoan Mendoza, 53, school utility man, and Floro Pidlaoan Mendoza, 58, both residents of Barangay Dalanguiring.
Both were arrested for murder by virtue of alias warrant of arrest issued in 2011 by Regional Trial Court Judge Renato Pinlac of Branch 57, San Carlos City. (Nora Dominguez)
