ALAMINOS CITY—A 200-room hotel here is set to rise after a groundbreaking ceremony last August 23 at the Lucap Wharf.

Engr. Ruben Bacay, chairman of HIRIBACO Resort Residences, will build the project.

He is also the president of Anglobuilders Construction and Development Inc., Aceana Construction and Devt. Corp, Asianaland Realty and Devt. Corp.

Bacay said the 200-room hotel will be the first-of-its- kind to rise in Pangasinan.

He said he was prompted to build a hotel after consultations several tour operators in Metro Manila confirmed that the reason why they’re not bringing busloads of tourists to Pangasinan is due to lack of hotel accommodation.

He said he is eyeing a hotel management group to operate the hotel but refused to divulge yet the name as negotiations are ongoing.

Phase one of the project involves development of a 5,000 sq. m. area that includes a recreational resort. Phase two includes construction of buildings on a one-hectare lot.

Phase two will be the construction of the eight-storey hotel with 200 rooms, and will take a year to complete, Bacay said.

The swimming pool will be ready by November this year.

Bacay said the project is expected to reach P500-million and investors provided P130-million start-up fund, he added.

He believes the promotion of the resort will not be difficult with social media.

He said the resort (and hotel) amenities will include a 240-meter long two adult swimming pools, kiddie pool, pavilion, cabañas, individual cottages, day spa and massage, businessman’s lounge, among others.

Alaminos Mayor Arthur Celeste lauded Bacay for finally heeding his request to invest in his own home city.

He said the new resort hotel project wlll help make his vision “to make Alaminos City become the best tourist destinations not only in the Philippines but globally,” a reality. (Eva Visperas)
