Dagupan boardwalk project tied to new city hall
REVERSAL OF P75-M BUDGET LIKELY
THE construction of the boardwalk project in Dagupan will likely be delayed further if the construction of the planned city hall will be delayed.
And, the delay will result in the reversion of the P75 million budget for the project to the national coffers if it will not be implemented till 2018.
This was stressed by DPWH District Engineer Rodolfo Dion, who said the program of works has identified that the construction of the new city hall should come first for the boardwalk project to start since the boardwalk will be constructed at the back of the new city hall.
Dion said the P75 million for the Boardwalk is already included in the general appropriations act or the National Expenditure Program for 2018.
If the construction of the new city hall will be delayed, the budget for the boardwalk will definitely be reverted, Dion said.
He also estimated that the Dagupan City government will spend P7 million for the backfill of the donated 1.2 hectares area as the site for the new city hall.
Based on the estimate and soil test, almost three to 4 meters deep need to be filled for the foundation of the future city hall in Dagupan.
Based on the estimate of DPWH, an estimate of 2,000 truckload of backfill will be needed to prepare the lot for the new city hall. (Nora Dominguez)
