LINGAYEN– The Sangguniang Panlalawigan honored the heroism of two Pangasinan soldiers who were killed recently in a clash between the government forces and members of Maute group in Marawi city.

On Monday, the provincial board approved two resolutions expressing deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the late Private First Class Noel Rivera and late Private First Class Eddie Cardona.

Rivera, who is a native son of Barangay Arwas in Bani town, and Cardona, who hailed from Barangay Goyoden in Bolinao, were killed in a firefight in war-torn Marawi City.

Board Members Antonio Sison, author of the resolution, said the Sangguniang Panlalawigan recognizes the valor of Rivera and Cardona as modern day heroes who helped bring peace in the southern part of the country.

“In recognition of their dedication to the military service, Rivera and Cardona deserve the highest salute from all officials, leaders and people of Pangasinan,” said Sison. (PIA-Pangasinan/EMBS)
