A concrete bridge in Tococ, Lucao and a new Day Care Center along with a new Health Center in Barangay Lomboy were inaugurated on August 2 in line with the city government’s thrust of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez of bringing the city government closer to the people.

“This is our unliserbisyo for the island barangays, which is among our priorities in serving our constituents. While we regularly pay them a visit maigi na din yung may naka-detail na tayong mga nurses sa mga barangay na puede nilang lapitan anytime without going to the City Health Office anymore,” said Fernandez referring to the services that the new Health Center could bring to the needy in the island barangays.
Fernandez added the city will also soon start the construction of more health centers in the barangays like Pugaro, Bacayao Sur, Pantal, and Caranglaan.
“We will also construct a satellite City Health Office in Bonuan Gueset to serve nearby barangays like Bonuan Boquig and Bonuan Binloc in partnership with the Department of Health and our City Health Office,” said Fernandez.
The three projects were all funded by the city as follows: Tococ Maaro Bridge – P1,192,563.81; Barangay Lomboy Health Center – P694,717.32 and Barangay Lomboy Day Care Center – P695,474.36.
In addition, the mayor said she also plans to purchase a motorboat to serve as a river taxi to ferry children to and from school during rainy season, especially those from the island barangays and villages under water.
“The river taxi will be for free to our children during the rainy season,” said Fernandez. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
