DASOL — The town of Dasol in Western Pangasinan became the fourth town in the province declared as drug-cleared by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) following the recommendation of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office.

The declaration was signed by Atty. Marvin Taveras, representing PDEA Regional Director Jeoffrey Tacio and PDEA official Dexter Asayco and Dasol Mayor Eric Verzosa, chairman of the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC).

The signing ceremony held at 9:00 a.m. on August 14 was attended by former PNP Director-General Jesus Verzosa, father of Mayor Verzosa.

The ceremony was witnessed by P/Sr. Superintendent. Ronald Lee and P/Chief Inspector Christopher Natnat, deputy chief of the Police Community Relations Branch.

Earlier cleared by PDEA were the city of Alaminos and the towns of Agno and Laoac.

The town of Sto. Tomas has been drug-free before the war on drugs was declared.

The 122 self-confessed drug users and pushers who surrendered and are presently undergoing rehabilitation under the Masa Masid program, and members of the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils participated in the ceremony,

P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, chief of the Pangasinan Police Community Relations, earlier confirmed that Dasol was included among the 18 towns in the province recommended by the police to be cleared by PDEA.

Florentino predicts that all the 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan will be drug-cleared by December this year.  (Leonardo Micua).
