Campaign for higher awareness launched

MORE RAPE CASES REPORTED

THE Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of the Dagupan City police has intensified it’s community awareness and information dissemination campaign to raise awareness on how to avoid to becoming a victim of sexual abuse.

This after an increase in rape cases in the province has been reported since January to July this year.

The Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk in the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office recorded 223 new cases of rape this year, 57% higher than the 178 cases last year.

Most of the victims were minors.

SPO2 Jailine Aquino, WCPD Supervisor at the Dagupan City Police Station, said, the community awareness and information dissemination in the schools and barangays in the city was launched targeting vulnerable victims, young girls, in particular.

She said parents or elder members of the family have a big role to educate and protect their children from abuses.

She advised the abused victims and their families to immediately report their cases to Daguapan PNP at 075-529-56-06 or 0916-525-68-02. (Nora Dominguez)
