BARANGAY Calmay became the 29th barangay in the city declared as drug-free by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) and the Philippine National Police.

The declaration was signed by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez in her capacity as chair of the CADAC, Dagupan City Chief of Police P/Superintendent Franklin Ortiz and Calmay Punong Barangay Evangelista Dela Cruz.

The signing was witnessed by DILG City Director Rhoderick Dawis and members of the barangay council of Calmay on August 15.

Dela Cruz was grateful that finally her barangay is now drug-free as she reassured that they will continue to remain vigilant against any more emergence or activity of drugs in the barangay.

“We’ve been hoping that our barangay be finally cleared, which was put on hold because of the suspension of the Operation Tokhang. Finally, our barangay is now drug-free,” said Dela Cruz.

Mayor Fernandez encouraged the barangay council to maintain their newly acquired status as drug-free barangay and to remain steadfast in the government’s campaign against the operation of illegal drugs. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
