One of 2 drowned teens missing found

SAN CARLOS CITY–One of two men declared as missing when their small boat capsized while crossing the Agno River between San Carlos City and Aguilar town on July 17, was found in Barangay Bañaga, Bugallon two days later.

According to the police, the body of Jordan Munoz, 19, of Barangay Isla, San Carlos City, was found by farmers already in advanced state of decomposition. His companion, Adrian Wyeth Carl De La Cruz,18, of Barangay Bocboc, San Carlos City, is still missing.

The two, together with one Rico Sudio, 21, also of Barangay Bocboc, San Carlos City, boarded a small boat on their way home to San Carlos City from Barangay San Jose, Aguilar where they were working, when the boat capsized due to strong current of the Agno river.

Sudio was able to swim ashore and sought help for his companions Munoz and De la Cruz who were swept downstream where they were believed to have drowned.

A search and rescue operation was immediately conducted by joint elements of San Carlos City Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection, City Health Office and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).

However, the search was temporarily stopped at around 8 p.m. by Bernabe Bacani Jr., CDRRMC chief, due to zero visibility and strong current of the Agno river.

The search resumed the following day when the body of Muñoz was found.  (Leonardo Micua)
