KAYAK, jetski and banana boat ride.

These are just but two of the fun beach activities that Mayor Belen T. Fernandez has brought to Tondaligan Blue Beach to the delight of local and foreign beachgoers on May 27-29.

Fernandez said windsurfing regatta and skim boarding will soon be introduced at the beach.

The Philippine windsurfing team recently conducted free training for children of local fisherfolk and a windsurfing race in Tondaligan with the help of Coach Paulo Morato and Ralph Tecson of the Philippine Sports Institute was also held.

The team was here upon the invitation of Executive Assistant to the Mayor Karlos Liberato Reyna IV.

Informed that windsurfing is possible at Tondaligan, Mayor Fernandez is now considering windsurfing as part of the city’s sports activities to be undertaken by the Dagupan City Sports Commission (DCSC) under the B.T.F. DOES It program with former Councilor Karlos Reyna in-charge in the water sports activities.

β€œWe are willing to provide scholarship to our kids who will be interested in the sports and we will commission trainors to teach them and invest in procuring the necessary equipment for their training,” said Fernandez.

The city is presently conducting a free skimboarding clinic at Tondaligan every weekend.

Lessons include basic theory, safety and one-on-one tutorial on run, drop, ride and glide; and basic wave riding. Skimboards are provided by the city.

Zumbelen is also being conducted every weekend in the area.

Meanwhile, the city is encouraging students to participate in a clean-up drive every last Saturday of the month. Β (Joseph C. Bacani)
