FOURTH District Rep. Christopher De Venecia will be in Thailand to attend and speak as a panelist during the inaugural conference of the Youth Student for Peace (YSP) set in Bangkok from June 11 to 14 on the theme, “The Role of Youth and Students in Creating a Culture of Sustainable Peace”.

He is expected to share the Philippine youth’s activities and movements with participants from other counties.

Last year, De Venecia addressed the launching of the UN SDSN-Youth Philippines in Baguio City  where he encouraged Filipino youth to be part of global network that mobilizes young citizens to help fund sustainable solutions that will address the new 17 sustainable goals set by UN to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change while ensuring that no one is left behind by the year 2020.

SDSN stands for Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

YSP supports the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals by highlighting the responsibility of young people in creating a culture of lasting peace.

The conference was organized in partnership with two UN-affiliated  organizations, both founded by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ya Moon who advocate strengthening the family as the cornerstone of sustainable peace, shared prosperity, and social harmony.

These are the Universal Peace Foundation, a Non-Government Organization in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of UN, established in 2005; and the Women’s Federation for World Peace, an NGO in general consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of UN, founded in 1992.

The third sponsoring organization, the Youth Federation for World Peace,  is a locally registered NGO working with government educators and school officials throughout Thailand.

De Venecia will be one of the panelists in Session IV in  a symposium on the “Responsibility of the  Youth To Build a Culture of Peace”.

With him in the panel are Arunchat Kuruwanich, sub-committee for Advocate for Youth and Children Project Council of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in Thailand; Asmi Shrestha, Miss Nepal World 2016; and Mica Camara, Oceana Youth Director.

The moderator of the symposium will be Koji Matsuda, president of YSP Japan.

The panelists will be presented by Naokjimi Ushiroda, national director of Youth and Students, FFWPU, USA.

De Venecia was invited to the forum by Dr. Thomas G. Walsh, president UPF-International; Prof. Yeon Ah Moon, president WFWP-International; Dr. Chung Sik Yong, chairman, UPF-Asia; and Dr. Robert S. Kittel, president, YSP.
