Pangasinan PNP nabs 1,341 pushers, 207 users

LINGAYEN—After 11 months, 1,548 persons (1,341 pushers and 207 users) have been arrested so far based on the Consolidated Accomplishment Report of Project Double Barrel prepared by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office for the period July 1, 2016 to date.
P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, chief of the police community relations, said the arrests were the result of 1,461 operations conducted by the police in various towns and cities in the province.
The operations consisted of the serving of 414 search warrants and 45 warrants of arrest, 886 buy-busts, 39 Oplan Sita, 67 police response and 10 checkpoint operations.
The number of deaths in these police operations remained at 33, one of whom was a policeman.
Confiscated were 666.3 grams of shabu and 649.61 grams of marijuana.
Of the 1,364 barangays in Pangasinan, 1,269 were listed as drug-affected while 95 barangays are unaffected.
To date, the number of cleared barangays stand at 1,088 leaving 181 remaining barangays uncleared.
So far, two towns and one city that have been declared by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as cleared. These are Laoac, Alaminos City and Agno.
Sto. Tomas is the only drug-free municipality in Pangasinan with no report since the very start of drug abuse and drug pushing by any of its residents.
No timeline was set by the police when they can declare Pangasinan as drug free. (Leonardo Micua)
