Two tourists hurt in boat collision

ALAMINOS CITY–Two tourists were hurt when two passenger boats collided near the Governor’s Island in the Hundred Islands, last Sunday, May 21.

The two were identified as Dianne Angela Abasta, 17; and Cristina Zarzuela, 40, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), both passengers of MB Babi 1. piloted by one Francis Abella, 33, which was bumped by MB Zafiel driven by one Jonnie Navarro.

Both victims suffered light injuries and were rushed to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital for treatment.

The accident happened when MB Babi 1 was maneuvering to land at the Governor’s Island while MB Zafiel 1 was about to leave the place just after unloading tourists.

Investigation showed the boatman of MB Zafiel 1 (Navarro) did not notice the approaching MB Bambi 1. Both motorboats were slightly damaged. as a result of the collision. (Leonardo Micua)
