BAYAMBANG–A task group was formed by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) to probe the killing of a policeman here, a known staunch anti-illegal drugs operative.

P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, head of the Police Community Relations, and PPPO spokesperson, told local newsmen during the KBP Forum that the suspect in the killing of Police Officer 2 Regie Tagulao, former member of Bayambang Police Station and was last assigned to the Natividad Police Station this province, has been identified and is the already the subject of police manhunt.

Tagulao was stabbed dead by the suspect. Both were guests in a birthday party of a village councilman in Nalsian Sur this town on the night of April 17.

Florentino said Tagulao was an intelligence officer who was active in the campaign against illegal drugs. An old grudge was reportedly the motive for the killing.

He rejected notions that Tagulao’s death sent a chilling affect on law enforcers actively involved in the war on drugs.

“We are aware of the dangers in our job. We are ready to die for it,” he said. (Tita Roces)
