SM Supermalls seeks exemption for terminal
TEMPORARY LOCATION
THE Dagupan City Council will conduct a public hearing on January 27 to discuss reactions and recommendations anent the request of SM Supermalls for an exemption from the ordinance on location of bus terminals for its planned temporary terminal for 18 months.
The request was contained in a letter signed by Engr. Bien C. Mateo, SM Supermalls Vice President-Northern Luzon dated January 4, 2017 addressed to Vice Mayor Brian Lim asking for exemption from City Ordinance 951-77 regarding rules for location of terminals in the city.
The request was made in connection with the proposed SM Center Dagupan to be built along M. H. del Pilar Street at the old Pantranco Terminal in Dagupan City before the city ordinance was passed.
Mateo said SM’s temporary terminal will be used for 18 months while SM Center Dagupan is being constructed.
“We would like to provide Dagupan commuters a suitable temporary terminal while we construct the mall that will house the future permanent intermodal transportation terminal of Dagupan,” Mateo stated in his letter.
Invited to the public hearing to be conducted by the committees on laws and ordinances, transportation and public utilities, infrastructures are officials of the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), transport organizations and officials of the big bus companies that have terminals in the city.
