MacArthur’s forces landed in Pangasinan

FOR decades now, the contentious debate about the place and date when General Douglas MacArthur waded through the beach water in Pangasinan after successfully launching the liberation of Luzon Island continues to rankle local historians.

It has come to a point where eyewitnesses who allegedly saw MacArthur set foot, or breezed through in a convoy, or heard him speak are sought out by media and interest groups to boost claims where he set foot first.

Even an account in the book MACARTHUR RETURNS TO PHILIPPINES, pin by Paolo Marzioli that reads: “General Douglas MacArthur wades ashore at ‘Blue Beach’, Lingayen Gulf, Philippines, 9 January 1945” is still not acceptable to some.

Our towns (Lingayen, Binmaley, Dagupan and San Fabian) can go on laying claim where the general first set foot but world history will simply go on acknowledging only the fact that the liberation of Luzon was led by the general when his invasion force struck from the Lingayen Gulf.

Hence, at the end of the day, what every Pangasinense should remember is that MacArthur started the liberation of Luzon in Pangasinan. It doesn’t really matter where he waded ashore first, where he first had his command conference first, or where he had his first dinner, etc.

Digong makes Noynoy a liar

WHAT former President Noynoy Aquino did not do, President Digong Duterte did—heroically.

What Noynoy said, Digong made him a liar out of it.

Horribly, Noynoy chose to be anti-people till the dying minutes of his reign.  Why he ignored pleas of millions of cash-starved retirees for an SSS pension increase is mind-boggling.

Thankfully, Digong intervened this week and added P1,000 more to the monthly pension of SSS beneficiaries.

Had Noynoy done the honors of giving additional pension, he said the SSS would go bankrupt.  What a lame excuse. A big lie even.

With Digong giving P1,000 more to retirees, totally debunked is Noynoy’s tune of SSS going bankrupt.
