Kapitans will make the difference

WE have reason to believe that Pangasinenses are now keenly looking forward to a better life in 2017. There have been many irreversible gains that can only be lost by deliberate insidious designs by corrupt government officials. And under the Duterte administration, it is not likely that our officials will dare defy the intent of the changes promised by President Duterte.

What needs to be stressed, however, is the fact that the difference in efforts to succeed to make lives of our kabaleyans better lie in our barangay officials. This has been proven to be true in the government’s war on drugs.

It’s only our barangay officials who can effectively make our people feel new beginnings, new directions, fresh initiatives to achieve promises for a brighter future.  And only leadership by example is their best way to articulate how public service should be.

In brief, the inclusive progress that our national leaders speak of can only be realized with the commitment and dedication of our village officials in 2017.

To our fellow Pangasinenses, to make 2017 worthwhile, let’s claim the economic progress promised us. Happy New Year.

Miracle of New Year

WHY we always welcome the New Year with all our might, heart and soul is because every birth, every new thing, is a reason for celebration.  Like the birth of a child, the coming of a new year is a wonder that only God can create.  It is a miracle and if it’s a miracle, only God is capable of authoring it.  And while we dutifully greet the onset of every new year with deafening noise to drive away evil spirits and bad vibes that might try to intrude into our peace, prosperity and progress, we likewise either offer a bar of chocolate (girl) or a cigar (boy) to those wishing good health and happiness eternal to our newborns.

Let love heal whatever wounds 2016 had inflicted on us as we give way to the coming of 2017 with open arms. Mabuhay!
