MANGALDAN—A suspected gun-for-hire acquitted by a local court for murder was gunned down on Dec. 5 along Barangay Amansabina here.

P/Superintendent Jeff Fanged, acting town police chief, said they found a caliber .45 tucked on his waist, a cellular phone and bonnet in the victim Leovino Alegria Sr, 60, resident of Poblacion Zone III, Villasis.

Police believed Alegria was shot several times by unknown assailants believed to be his companions. He reportedly belonged to a gun-for-hire group, Fanged said.

The victim was detained at the Balungao District Jail on Jan. 9, 2012 for the crime of murder but was acquitted on Aug. 13, 2014.

The recovered cellular phone showed his transactions for another mission involving his work as gun-for-hire member, Fanged added. (Tita Roces)
