2017 PROJECTS

DAGUPAN Mayor Belen Fernandez said among the big ticket projects she will push next year are the Waste-to-Worth project in Bonuan Binloc and the new government center in the city.

In a talk to local newsmen, Fernandez said the approval of the new Comprehensive Land Use Plan of Dagupan has given enough leeway to the city government to implement more big projects.

She said the Waste-To-Worth project will be a big boon to the city as it will finally solve the worsening waste disposal problem in the city by converting wastes into diesel fuel.

The project is now almost a done-deal after a two-hectare area of the Tondaligan National Park where the project will rise, was already segregated by the proclamation signed by then President Benigno Aquino III.

The Waste-to-Worth project is supported by Procter and Gamble Philippines, the U.S. State Department, the Asian Development Bank and many other international institutions.

Meanwhile, Fernandez said she will also start working on the construction of a new government center or the city hall next year.

She hinted the city may likely obtain bank loans to finance the new government center since funds of the city will not be enough for the project.

She said the first order is to determine and identify the site.

There were suggestions that the new city hall should be located beside the Jose de Venecia Sr. Expressway in Barangay Pantal which will require a donation from private owners or expropriation.

She also confirmed that Shoe Mart (SM) will definitely rise at the Pantranco Terminal in Dagupan City.

She said the public utility buses and vans using the property as a terminal are moving to other areas within the city starting January next year. (Leonardo Micua)
